 Dr.
John H. Winston, III recently brings
extensive experience to the San Antonio region and the Colorectal
Surgery Services, PLLC.
He received
an engineering degree from the University of Alabama then
received his medical degree from the University of Alabama
School of Medicine. He completed his residencies in General
Surgery & Colorectal Surgery at the Washington Hospital
Center in Washington, DC receiving diverse training in all
aspects of surgery of the colon, rectum & anus. After
completing his training, he held academic positions at the
Ohio State University then the University of Texas HSC at
San Antonio.
His
surgical & research interests include defecatory physiology,
anorectal ultrasound, benign anal diseases, rectal cancer
& minimally invasive surgery. He is board certified
in both general surgery and
colon and rectal surgery. He has been elected as fellow
in both the American
College of Surgeons & the American
Society of Colon & Rectal Surgery. This gives him
the added skill & experience to take care of the most
complex diseases of the colon, rectum & anus.
He was
raised in Alabama where his extensive family remains. He
married his childhood sweetheart & has a young daughter.
He enjoys refurbishing furniture in his spare time.
